Common Field, a national network of visual arts organizations and organizers, will host the annual Common Field Convening from November 2-5 in Los Angeles, CA, at the Japanese American Cultural Community Center and a constellation of sites across the city. A preliminary schedule is available here.
The full program of sessions, conversations, workshops, tours, presenters, after-hours and local arts events will be online in mid-September and updated weekly until the Convening. For e-mail updates, make sure you're signed up for our newsletter.

Common Field’s Convening is an itinerant annual gathering that brings together 350+ local and national organizers to explore the state of the field of arts organizing and to share resources, knowledge and methods for artist-led, artist-run, and artist-centered projects, spaces and practices.
This is the first year the Convening will be held on the West Coast, in a city in which Common Field has decided to set down its roots. Los Angeles has provided especially fertile ground for the rapid expansion of our artist organization community. It’s an ideal time, we believe, to connect the interests of the national Common Field membership with the contexts and conditions specific to this sprawling, rousing city. There is also an urgency to come together around issues of social justice, equity, and environmental issues for many organizations in our network. It is a critically relevant moment to unite around common and uncommon causes, and the future.
